I've resigned to the fact that Krueger would never be the same as long as Wes Craven is not on board. Having said that, I'm really looking forward to the remake. That, even though Krueger is no longer funny (as far as I can see in the trailer) and there's no more classic Johnny Depp death scene. I can at least hope that Jackie Earle Haley will deliver as usual. I'm sure he will. Fucking ace actor.

Like Wes Craven said, if this movie rules, bloody lovely. If it sucks, it will only emphasise how absolutely ingenious the old one was.

30th April 2010. We'll see.

So here's to one of the greatest bands of the 70s/80s, and to the brilliant Nightmare on Elm Street legacy living on.

I lie awake and dread the lonely nights
I'm not alone, I wonder if these heavy eyes can face the unknown
When I close my eyes, I realize you'll come my way
I'm standing in the night alone forever together

We're the dream warriors, don't wanna dream no more
We're the dream warriors and maybe tonight, maybe tonight you'll be gone

Sweet revenge, the bitter end this time
Break the spell of illusion bound together waiting for you

Paranormal Activity
Tuesday, November 17, 2009, 10:01 PM | 0 comments

Special trip to the theatres to see the long awaited Paranormal Activity. To whomever said it was scary, fuck off. An angry Bear Jew is way scarier than that film. Nonetheless, I found it a rather well-made film, considering its extremely tight budget.

The movie can be summed up as enjoyable, but plain.

The low budget factor tears through so clear like a torn old parchment. Some good scares in the midst of the film, but overall, there were nothing impressive about the ghastly, ghostly effects. You are better off watching a Michael Bay film if that's what you're looking for.

The demon is trite and cliched. It opens doors and closes them for no particular reason. It jerks off to you sleeping, the only explanation I can think of for those knocking noises. The story is so simple, you'd be able to figure out the rest 20 minutes into the movie.

But I do like it. The characters were considerably quite well-written, interspersed with bits of humour. The acting was not half-bad. It creates the tension in the atmosphere really well with the camera idea, that is certainly not new, but still used in an unique angle.

It was no Exorcist, but it certainly way surpasses Blair Witch Project. I think it does deserve all the good reviews, though they do push your expectations a little too high.

I suppose it gets a 6-7 range, not a masterpiece, not bad at all.

Escapade 2009.

I've stopped blogging about my personal life since I found out there were actually people reading it. (Which will probably make me seem like the most boring person alive.) So I probably will suck at this recount. But here goes.

So this is what I've been involved in over last weekend!

Escapade 2009.

Oh wait, exclamation marks do not look exciting. They look proud and fierce. Scrap that. (I'm crazy, fuck off.)

So this is what I've been involved in over last weekend. Extremely adept director/cool lecturer, Mr Adrian was kind enough to have completely inexperienced me as the assistant director for the event's midnight live gig. I think I could have died when he first passed me the controls. So, I did multi-cam directing for the very first time, for some short segments, mostly during the Zouk DJ session. It was tough, but fun! The cameramen were great at getting amazing professional angles and they were extremely responsive to the director's order.

It was fun to work with the video people, you know who you are.

Okay, it's time to insert awesome pictures, is that how you do it?

The performers were: Electrico, 1989, Shigga Shay, Zouk's DJ Andrew Chow, Great Spy Experiment, and my personal favourite amongst all: West Grand Boulevard. None of them belonged to the category of music I enjoy, but WGB put up a great show.

Another awesome picture:

After the gig, the editing team uploaded videos, and the photography teams uploaded photos, so they are floating around the Interweb right now. Then after staying up for the entire day(s) from 9am Saturday to 9am Sunday, we headed home after breakfast and ended the kickass day(s).

18 and life
Saturday, November 14, 2009, 12:39 PM | 0 comments

Ricky was a young boy, He had a heart of stone.
Lived 9 to 5 and worked his fingers to the bone.
Just barely got out of school, came from the edge of town.
Fought like a switchblade so no one could take him down.

He had no money, no good at home.
He walked the streets a soldier and he fought the world alone.

And now it's 18 and life you got it.
18 and life you know.
Your crime is time and it's 18 and life to go.

Tequila in his heartbeat, his veins burned gasoline.
It kept his motor running but it never kept him clean.
They say he loved adventure, "Ricky's the wild one."
He married trouble and had a courtship with a gun.
Bang bang, shoot 'em up, the party never ends.
You can't think of dying when the bottle's your best friend.

And now it's 18 and life you got it.
18 and life you know.
Your crime is time and it's 18 and life to go.

"Accidents will happen", they all heard Ricky say.
He fired his six-shot to the wind that blew a child away.

I wonder about the identities of the beings taking over the massive human race, which intends to gradually die out in their own hands.
